Examiner applications for the EBOD Spring exam in Paris on Friday May 8th 2026 are now open on the EBO website: Examiner Application Form
A reminder that the examiner experience has changed:
Open to younger colleagues: We have changed the eligibility criteria and now we welcome eye specialists with a minimum of 3 years’ experience (instead of 5 years) as we want to attract the new generation of European Ophthalmologists.
Less intense exam: There will be only four rounds of viva voce exams between 1:30 and 6:30 pm. There will be longer coffee breaks for you to reset and familiarise yourself with the questions.
Increased reimbursement fee: The EBO has also decided to increase the examiners’ reimbursement to 350 EUR.
No last-minute preparation: Examiners will not be required to bring their questions. Clinical case questions will be provided by the EBO Education Committee so you can leave your laptop at home! We will do our best to match you to your subspeciality and you will receive a scoring grid & examiner handbook to remove any guesswork from the process.
